Research at the Child Study Centre

The Child Study Centre, situated at the University of Western Australia's Nedlands Campus, has been identified as one of 9 schools to comprise the Focus School Group. Research is being conducted in several key areas by graduate students and staff. Below is an outline of the key research areas. Children with Special Needs    
  A. Early identification of children with special needs 1. Attention deficit without hyperactivity
    2. Behavioural problems
    3. Speech problems
     
  B. Intervention for children with special needs 1. Phonological processing difficulties
     
  C. Integration of children with special needs 1. From the CSC Special Needs Unit into the 4 or 5 yr old Units.
    2. From the CSC Special Needs Unit to local preschools
     
  D. Support for mainstream teachers of children with special needs 1. Teachers who have Special Needs Unit children in their class part time.
    2. Preschool teachers of children with autistic symptoms.
Play in the Early Childhood (4-5yrs) Curriculum  A. Develop a draft framework for training video tape & booklet
