Frequently Asked Questions
Don't fret, here are some Frequently Asked Questions to solve any queries. Of course, don't hesitate to contact us if you would like some more information about Project K.I.D.S. and what is involved on a PKIDS Activity Day.
Q. Where exactly is Project KIDS? A. Project KIDS is located in the Child Study Centre at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in Nedlands. The Child Study Centre is located on Fairway, just off Stirling Highway, on the western side of the campus. There are drop-off parking bays directly outside the building. Q. Does my child need to bring anything? A. No, just themselves. Recess and lunch are provided, so there is no need to bring any food. If your child wears glasses, please bring them along just in case. Q. What should my child wear? A. Anything they want!! We do play different games and activities throughout the day so make sure that they are in comfortable play clothes and shoes. Q. Will I receive any information or feedback on my child's performance? A. Project KIDS is a research program that gathers data in order to better understand how children grow and develop. So, we are unable to specifically report on an individual child, however, every child that participates in Project KIDS is making a huge contribution to the understanding of children's development and associated disorders. Q. What exactly is brain wave technology (ERP)? A. ERP (Evoked Response Potentials) is basically the measurement of 'brain waves'. ERP allows us to see exactly what parts of the brain are stimulated or working when a child performs a certain task or activity. This technology can help us to pin point exactly what parts of the brain are responsible for certain tasks and abilities. Knowing exactly how the brain functions can help us to better learn and understand child development.
